Happiness is a choice
Are we all messed up inside? The older I get the more convinced I am that there is nothing termed as a "normal" person. "Normal" should be deleted from all languages. Normal is such a vague term, I grew up thinking that the journey of life would be just so, but I found out that the road was so convoluted and there were so many exits, so many crazy ... more...

Just a moment
When I started blogging, I was quite regular at adding posts and following up on reading the posts of my friends. I was pretty much hooked you may say. In between there was a long lull. I was out of town and busy with different projects. Also, I have to add, that I was a little frightened and cautious. Some of the attention I was getting was not al... more...

The meaning of life according to me
The season of Goodwill is here and celebrations are in every part of India. We enjoy these festivities despite another year of terrorist attacks, bad crops, corruption, inflation and farmer suicides. It is a celebration of life, another harvest, another year of surviving. Life goes on...There is a special unmistakable smell in the air. A smell of i... more...

Feel Good Film
I guess most of you have already seen the film "Chak De..." but I still would like to share some views on it. I feel Hindi cinema has really matured of late. It was such a pleasant surprise that the lead actor had no romantic interest in the film and that the subject was so unusual and yet interesting. This film has dealt with so many issues but wi... more...

Bong Connection
I saw "Bong Connection" over the weekend and it was truly hilarious. It was such a spot-on image of Bongo-desh and for that matter Houston, Texas (and the American Nightmare) that I was laughing out aloud through most of the silly bits, and trying to pretend not to cry during the "sentu" bits. Kudos to all those people who gamble on making these un... more...

PLASTIC MENACE
PLASTIC MENACEI live in a city which was under water a week ago. Exams were postponed. People got electrocuted. Everyone knows the story. Now we are facing the repercussions: skyrocketting prices for vegetables and other perishables, disease and malaise. But, I am still shocked that we are being offered plastic bags at every vendor???? Are these sa... more...

Happier times
Presently my biggest enemies are my phone and a laptop that is sitting idle in my wardrobe. The laptop eyes me sullenly when I open the door and I try my best to avoid eye contact.  I am technologically challenged, and require help. My new gizmo phone is so full of s--t that it is like the top brass management, all flash and brash but still trash. ... more...

Race to escape
Never get friendly with anyone on an International flight. Especially if they are Indian. Not so long ago I was on my way to Singapore, and as (bad) luck would have it I met up with an acquaintance at the airport lounge. This lady was a Bong like me, but of my mom's generation having a grown boy, married to a white girl in US of A. She was on her wa... more...

That lovin' feeling
Today I want to write about good things. I am sometimes compelled to write about the weirdos all around me forgetting I myself (horror of horrors) might be one of them. Memories are final?
Is there something like a shifting memory? Or, are all memories the stuff that life is made of? Maybe it is the other way around. And, by the way - are memories final? Why else does he remember only what he remembers and nothing else? Memories should be the stuff that dreams are made of, not reality. There is enough of reality as it is, living, and...  more...

‘Eating the Earth’!
Eating meat, dairy and eggs threatens our planet. You use much less land and water if you eat crops directly. Animals use most of the protein they eat to live, not 'grow' meat. So eating meat adds to water shortages, forest clearing, soil damage, use of oil-based pesticides - and climate change. "By 2050 the world's livestock will be consuming as m...  more...

Wanderings of my mind
Today I read an interesting peice in TOI. The writer says we begin by blaming the others for any problems. i.e. "You" are responsible. Then as we grow spiritually we start saying "I" am responsible and as we evolve we say "No one is to blame" ! Interesting, right? I am sure it must be right, there must be a deeper meaning of the self, ego et al. My...  more...

The gr8ness of women
I firm believe in the equality of gender and I respect the differences too. I can see the gr8ness of women in so many aspects that words wont be enough to describe their gr8ness.Women have the natural ability to stay loving and caring.
